For businesses the world over, confidence in digital authenticity is in short supply. Can you be sure that your bank’s website is not an elaborate phishing recreation? Did that e-invoice really come from your business partner? How can you tell? [...]

Yes, verifiable authentic human content is important. I also think cryptography can provide better transparency for synthetic content. It's one of my favorite applications of W3C Verifiable Credentials.

How Ethereal Engine is Unleashing the Power of the Immersive Web Ethereal Engine
In keeping with the DWeb Camp theme, we also demonstrated how decentralized identifiers, identity web wallets, and verified credentials can be powerfully leveraged in Ethereal Engine to enable an entirely new paradigm of frictionless portable identity that champions user privacy and dignity.

Interestingly, all interviewed users claimed to have had a seamless and easy onboarding experience all the way from download through wallet creation — yet they still managed to give their SRPs to phishing scammers.

DAOs are not corporations: where decentralization in autonomous organizations matters Vitalik Buterin
I will focus on three types of situations where decentralization is important:
Decentralization for making better decisions in concave environments, where pluralism and even naive forms of compromise are on average likely to outperform the kinds of coherency and focus that come from centralization.
Decentralization for censorship resistance: applications that need to continue functioning while resisting attacks from powerful external actors.
Decentralization as credible fairness: applications where DAOs are taking on nation-state-like functions like basic infrastructure provision, and so traits like predictability, robustness and neutrality are valued above efficiency.
The year is 1996. John Perry Barlow is about to declare, “The internet consists of transactions, relationships, and thought itself” (1).
From the vantage point of today’s web, someone might argue that only the first part of Barlow’s statement is correct.

Because it’s visual and experiential, the metaverse is “a little bit easier to grasp from a leadership perspective,” said Cutlan. “I don’t know anyone who saw early days blockchain demos and said, ‘I need to show 20 of my friends’.”

Warning of dystopian nightmares
I don’t think people recognize that as a new empire built on military tech and steeped in behavioral psychology. Immersive reality is an open air prison / Skinner Box. If the story is good enough, they think we won’t resist it.
The proposed holistic framework aims to ignite new ideas and discussions related to the combined deployment of DLT, SSI, and metaverse to inspire new implementation areas within the Industry 4.0 environment. The paper also discusses various opportunities, enablers, technical \& privacy aspects, legislation requirements, and other barriers related to SSI implementation.
Blockchain-Based Self-Sovereign Identity Approach for Inter-Organizational Business Processes Annals
To address trust and privacy issues in IOBP, this paper presents a Blockchain-based Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) approach. The SSI concept is combined with a registry proof smart contract to provide an efficient privacy-preserving solution. The proposed approach is applied to the pharmaceutical supply chain case study and implemented on the Ethereum Blockchain
focusing on an in-depth analysis, furthermore, presenting a comprehensive collection of SSI properties that are important for the implementation of the SSI system. In addition, it explores the general SSI process flow, and highlights the steps in which individual properties are important. After the initial purification and classification phase, we then validated properties among experts in the field of Decentralized and Self-Sovereign Identity Management using an online questionnaire, which resulted in a final set of classified and verified SSI properties.
For the next five years, the European Commission has formulated an ambitious plan to define new skill sets for the Cultural and Creative Industries Sector (CCIS). This effort is based on the European Skills Agenda, which aims to help individuals and businesses to develop more, and better skill sets.
Data sovereignty has gained much recent attention, whilst interpreted in varied ways. MyData Global describes in this blog post what to make of data sovereignty when taking a human-centric approach to personal data.
The Gap between #Purpose and #How is filled with #Paradox MyDigitalFootprint
Google’s Purpose is to “Organise the world's information.” How it does this is by collection and ownership of data. The Purpose is not wrong, but How is an interesting take on data ownership. Facebook's Purpose is “To connect every person in the world.” It does this by using your data to manipulate you and your network. The Purpose is not wrong, but How Facebook does it is an interesting take on control and the distribution of value?
I imagine most readers are at least vaguely aware, Facebook was once such a disproportionately huge traffic source for digital publishers
Facebook Workplace accounts is a good example. It’s one of those pieces that I think when we look at Infinite Office, we’re targeting supporting that as one of the techniques that people can use to feel like, “Yeah, I can have my workplace Facebook account, and that’s what I’m going to use in certain contexts.”
