I’ll first highlight data interoperability challenges faced by both logistics and government agencies in managing supply chains. I’ll also highlight key issues being addressed by US government institutions like the Department of Transportation (DOT), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) regarding supply chain data interoperability. Furthermore, I’ll share with you examples of how these agencies are currently working to secure supply chains, prevent bottlenecks, and assist commercial logistics companies in enhancing their efficiency. Lastly, I’ll suggest potential next steps for advancing supply chain data interoperability.

In parallel with the preparation of the regulation, the piloting of different use cases for the European Digital Identity Wallet was also launched last year, for example for mobile driving licences and digital diplomas. For those unfamiliar, the Agent Explorer is a React application that allows you to connect to (local, remote, or in-browser) Veramo agents and interact with them through an intuitive user interface. The Agent Explorer allows you to create and manage your DIDs, create and verify credentials, and even communicate with other DIDs through the DIDComm interface.
At launch, the open-source protocols and standards the Indicio Proven Mobile SDK supports include DIDComm V1.0, DID:Peer:1 and DID:Peer:2 and AnonCreds. Future updates will add decentralized ecosystem governance (DEGov), JSON-LD and SD-JWT credential types, and OID4VC, providing interoperability with the European Union’s Digital Identity Wallet standards. ASTM Committee F49 on Digital Information in the Supply Chain was formed in 2022. F49 meets twice a year in April and October with about 40 members attending over two days of technical meetings. The committee, with a current membership of 81, will develop standards to be published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 10.04.
