How decentralized identity is shaping the future of data protection 2024-02-20 Mirko Zorz, Help Net Security
AI will make the authenticity of individuals less obvious, so organizations will have to present layered approaches to authentication to ensure that people are who they say they are before they are issued a credential.

Digital Identity and trust infrastructure capabilities are key enablers of the Swiss digital economy, so it must be recognized that their adoption within businesses requires special emphasis and systematic support.
Elevating public services through technology 2024-02-24 The Kathmandu Post
The digital data, stored in a verifiable data registry, can be issued by any authorised entity and verified by any verifier without the need for integration with the registry. For these reasons, it is touted that Bhutan’s blockchain-based national digital identity system is superior to a centralised identity system like the Aadhar of India.
The digital Turkish lira is set to be an intermediated CBDC with self-sovereign identity and offline transfers PA Turkey
The first phase of the project dealt with the digital identity system, digital currency system, abstraction layer, service layer and wallet. The abstraction layer supports the modularity of the system. The first phase of the project began in 2021 and the CBRT carried out its first trial transactions with the digital Turkish lira in 2022.
Digital Turkish Lira: First Phase Evaluation Report 2024-02-18 The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT)
Central authorities determine identity schemas, while identity providers generate Verifiable Credentials (VCs) according to the identity schema and the definitions. However, unlike other methods, in the SSI model, users can perform verification independently from the identity provider.

Guest blog: Tim Boeckmann, Mailchain 2024-02-22 Decentralized Identity Foundation
The DID resolution and Mailchain audiences are different. For Vidos, we’re working with enterprises and closing some gaps where technology is not available today. Mailchain is largely feature complete.
Vidos is a good fit with Mailchain because there’s strong interest in enabling Web3 communication, whether that’s machine-to-machine messages triggered by blockchain transactions or certain types of business communication.

Phil Windley - Identity Metasystems and Lessons from Building the Sovrin Foundation 2024-02-21 Trinsic
Phil shares lessons from identity systems that got adopted, like the social login metasystem, as well as from things that didn’t get a lot of adoption, like certain identity blockchains and information cards a decade prior. We hope this an interesting episode. We’re glad we got to tell a small part of the Sovrin story as we think a lot of today’s reusable ID projects have their roots in the movement Sovrin started—including Trinsic.
How Decentralized Identity Will Affect API Security 2024-02-21 Nordic Apis
When you’re using decentralized identity management, you’re going to get a lot more anonymous traffic due to users not logging in. Anonymous users might find themselves without the access they’re used to. Ideskog recommends putting an “API Sanity Check” in place to keep meltdowns to a minimum.

The paper proposes a theoretical framework that formalizes authentication policies and interactions among authentication systems, together with a protocol that prevents, whenever an interaction is established or updated, the security issues described above. An SSI-based implementation of the proposed protocol is presented as well
DIDAPPER: A Practical and Auditable On-Chain Identity Service for Decentralized Applications 2023-07-17 Libin Xia, Jiashuo Zhang, Xihan Zhang, Yue Li, Jianbo Gao, Zhi Guan, Zhong Chen
We introduce group signatures to provide anonymous and traceable credentials for on-chain users and decentralized applications. In order to meet the efficiency and flexibility requirements, we design credential structure and workflow mostly compatible with W3C standards (a DID recommendation that enables verifiable, decentralized digital identity), and realize credential verification service with updatable policies.

A Strange New Contraption Sum>Parts 2024-02-08 Holochain
The back wheel symbolizes the Distributed Hash Table, facilitating data transfer akin to peer-to-peer file sharing technologies like BitTorrent or IPFS. The front wheel, inspired by Git's local-first version control, enables agents to make local changes that synchronize with the network when connected online. Holochain's source chain, akin to a bike chain, implements hashchains for connectivity between actions, granting each agent autonomy in updating their own chain. Public/private key cryptography, resembling handlebars, ensures security and identity in digital interactions, allowing users to steer their actions securely.
