The Era of Self-Sovereign Identity ChakRay
Similar actions conducted in person do not represent the same amount of risk. For example, if someone asks you to verify your identity, we show our ID or driver’s license, and when you pay at the store, you provide your bank card. In this way, the control and the ownership of the data stays with you.
Wallets
Identity Wallets & eIDAS 2.0 State of Identity Cameron D'Ambrosi and Marcel Wendt, CTO\Founder of Digidentity
What role will public vs. private institutions play in the rollout of eIDAS 2.0 wallets? […] The duo discusses the looming impact of eIDAS 2.0 on digital identity globally, how to keep data secure when verifying the identity of individuals and businesses online, and the European Union's clear vision for where digital identity is headed.
A Business Trip with FlexID SSID Kudzaishe George Zharare
In the offline world, we typically store credentials in a physical wallet — it keeps them all in one place, protects them by keeping them close to our body, and makes them easy to carry around and access when we need them. The job of a digital wallet is no different:
Store your credentials, keys/keycards, bills/receipts, etc
Protect them from theft or prying eyes.
Keep them handy — easily available and portable across all your devices.

Will decision making improve if we understand the bias in the decision making unit? My Digital Footprint
At the most superficial level, we know that the expectations of board members drive decisions. The decisions we take link to incentives, rewards and motivations and our shared values.
Are Transactional Relationships Enough? Phil WIndley
Our online relationships are almost all transactional. A purely transaction digital life can't feel as rich and satisfying as one based on interactional relationships. As more of our relationships are intermediated by technology, finding ways to support interactional relationships will allow us to live authentic digital lives.
Ethics
We Should Embrace the Ethical Implementation of Digital Identity Continuum Loop
People criticize the way it’s being implemented and warn about the negative consequences it will have. It’s almost as if people don’t realize that organizations are already monitoring and influencing us and that Google and social media algorithms have been instrumental in this.
Update #REBillOfRights by integrating Self-sovereign Identity Bill of Rights RE2020 Bill Wendal
#RE2020 applauds efforts to open silo’ed data across the emerging real estate ecosystem, but this blog post reflects the blind spot that happens when well-intended real estate elites discuss the future of open data without including the most important stakeholders: — “we the people.”
TAKEAWAYS FROM OUR COMMUNITY CALL ON INTERSECTIONS BETWEEN DATA & DIGITAL RIGHTS AND SOCIAL JUSTICE The Engine Room
On February 15, we held a community call to discuss our newly-published research findings on intersectional collaboration between social justice communities and data and digital rights (DDR) communities. We were joined by speakers Temi Lasade-Anderson from Alaase Lab, Luã Cruz from IDEC, Patronella Nqaba from Atlantic Fellows for Racial Equity and Paromita Shah from Just Futures Law.
Don't get involved with Clearview's dodgy data Privacy International
Clearview AI are in the spotlight again, after a pitch deck they've been sharing with investors was leaked to the Washington Post. The slide deck included a list of potential commercial business partners that included dating apps, ride hailing apps, even a baby sitting company. Their list was speculative, but concerning. So, we're asking those companies to pledge that they will never work with Clearview, or use their dodgy database.

Working Spaces Are Ecosystems Too! Autumn Watkinson - Trust over IP Foundation
An ecosystem is a community of living organisms interacting with each other and their physical environment. When you hear that definition, you might priture a pristine nature landscape, but that definition can also apply to how businesses, individual or organization interact with one and other. This talk is about natural ecosystem and how we can adapt nature's lessons to our industry ecosystems.

RMIT future-proofs the university-to-student connection with verifiable credentials in Azure Active Directory
Compatibility with open standards is key to optimizing innovation. “We consider this solution part of a bigger ecosystem that will connect and cooperate with other ecosystems,” adds Radhakrishnan. “We’re exploring linking student credentials to the transportation authorities in Victoria and Melbourne to provide students with discounts on those systems.”
Technical Design and Development of SSI Management Platform Blockchain Healthcare Today
we leveraged the Hyperledger Indy blockchain framework to store patient’s decentralized identifiers (DIDs) and the schemas or format for each credential type. In contrast, the credentials containing patient data are stored “off-ledger” in each person’s wallet and accessible via a computer or smartphone. We used Hyperledger Aries as a middleware layer (API) to connect Hyperledger Indy with the front-end, which was developed using a JavaScript framework, ReactJS (Web Application) and React Native (iOS Application).
The Human Colossus Foundation will present its Dynamic Data Economy -DDE concept at the DIA conference in Brussels
Promising advances in digital personal health empower patients. Technologically, we could shift from symptom based intervention to prevention and early treatment. But advanced innovations also generate debates on trust in sharing intrusive data and regulatory compliance. (presentation details here).

Part I: The Five Guiding Principles
Secure, Private, Available, Supervisable, Sustainable
Part II: The Direct Presentation model
A credential is issued, and then held for a long period of time with intermittent voluntary presentations to many different verifiers.
Part III: Decentralized Identity: The Basics of Decentralized Identity
At the most basic level, decentralized identity is the story of three standardized documents: a proclamation, a letter of introduction, and an endorsement.

#45 - Self-Sovereign Digital Identity, Blockchain & Web3 with Charlyn Ho I ALSO Want Money
Could blockchain and the decentralized web mean the end of surveillance capitalism? Maybe! In this episode, Perkins Coie partner Charlyn Ho defines digital identity, explains how blockchain empowers users to take control of their data, and shares how Web3 could dismantle Big Tech’s monopoly on Big Data - if it’s built the right way.
Own and verify your personal identity for web3 RealID Eth
1. With one line of code verify realid.eth wallet addresses.
const result = await provider.resolveName(`${address}.realid.eth`);
if(parseInt(address, 16) === parseInt(result, 16)) {
// address has Real ID
}
2. Guard against Sybil attacks and follow KYC/AML regulations.
3. Reduce sign-up friction and lower costs for exchange.
4. If desired, create membership requirements based off of the attached identity (for instance, if you wanted to create an NFT collection that could only be minted by residents of New York City) without requiring users to give up their whole identity.
Web 3.0 and digital identity- (In Chinese) Fraser Edwards via Johnny Fry
Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) is arguably the most effective form of digital identity in Web 3.0. SSI is a user-centric identification method for controlling information. Fully aligned with Web 3.0, SSI eliminates the need to store personal information entirely on a central database and gives individuals greater control over the information they share to protect their privacy.
The future of Decentralized Identity: SSI vs NFTs Walt ID
While SSI has been developed to model digital identity, NFTs are used to model digital ownership. As a result, the concepts and technologies on which each approach is based differ with far reaching consequences. For example, while NFTs require blockchains, SSI can be used with or without them which is particularly important in the context of compliance and privacy.

Appreciate the past. I’m worried too much knowledge about how we’ve done things in the past is being lost. But not everything needs to go into the future. Identify what has worked and keep doing it. Identify what hasn’t worked and iterate to improve on it.
Are blockchain-based DAOs really a utopian revolution in the making? John Naughton - The Guardian
Only straw men pitching today’s DAO as fully realized ideal. Todays ‘DAOists’ are doing the hard work of figuring it out -nfo
DAOs are, I think, one of the best illustrations of the problem with a lot of these Web3 projects: They are trying to find technological solutions that will somehow codify very complex social structures.

Cloudflare’s investigation of the January 2022 Okta compromise
Our understanding is that during January 2022, hackers outside Okta had access to an Okta support employee’s account and were able to take actions as if they were that employee. In a screenshot shared on social media, a Cloudflare employee’s email address was visible, along with a popup indicating the hacker was posing as an Okta employee and could have initiated a password reset.
